Imperial German Navy officer's dagger with ivory handle - Lüneburg

Description

Kaiserliche Marine officer's dagger. Made by AUG. LÜNEBURG, KIEL.

The dagger comes with an etched blade on both sides showing naval motifs. "AUG. LÜNEBURG KIEL" maker marked on the back of the blade. Hard to read. A real ivory handle with intact wire wrapping. Slight stains and a fine hairline crack. The pommel and crossguard are made from brass. Original officer's portepee.

The scabbard has a nice oak leaf decor. "KS" or "SK" engraved (initials of the recipient). Made from brass. Two minor dents. This pattern was offered in the LÜNEBURG sales catalog under item number 335. A copy of the catalog is published in the textbook "Die Deutschen Marineblankwaffen" by Ralf Siegert on page 174.

Including the officer's altimeter (altitude meter). Gilt metal case. Diameter: 4 cm. In its original case of issue. The button to open the case is missing. Named and "1909" dated inside. Unfortunately, the name is hardly legible.

Signs of use. Good condition.
