Description

Generalleutnant of the Luftwaffe Martin Harlinghausen served as commander of the "Seeflieger" (seaplane squadron) on Mallorca during the Spanish Civil War (Legion Condor). For his service, he was awarded the Spanish Cross in Gold with Diamonds. During World War II, he served as Geschwaderkommodore of Kampfgeschwader 26 and was also involved in the campaign in Africa. In the last two years of the war, Harlinghausen commanded the II. Fliegerkorps in the Mediterranean and Luftwaffenkommando West.

An impressive hand-carved wooden shield with a painted front. It shows the squadron emblem of the 3. Gruppe/Sturzkampfgeschwader 1. Dated "Russia 1942". There is a wall mount on the reverse. Issued to Generalleutnant Martin Harlinghausen.
