Honor Sword of the City of Solingen "Die schärfste Klinge 1978"

Description

The sword was issued by the city of Solingen from 1978 until 1991. For example, Federal President Richard von Weizäcker and Minister-President Ernst Albrecht were awarded the same sword.

Excellent nickel-plated steel blade featuring the inscription "Die schärfste Klinge 1978" and "Verliehen von der Stadt Solingen." Blued background with gold-plated ornaments. No maker's mark.

Gold-plated handle fittings with mother-of-pearl grip plates. No chipping. The clamshell guard shows the coat of arms of the city of Solingen, flanked by two lions. Black leather scabbard with gold-plated fittings. It has no dents.

Length: 100 cm.

The handle is a little loose (wobbles) and the bottom fitting of the scabbard has been "repaired" (glue residue on both sides). Furthermore, the blade does not hold the scabbard (slips down).

Includes newspaper cuttings about the sword.
