Shield for Special Merit in the Battle of Crete 1941 of the IX Air Corps to Oberfeldwebel Peter Nikolaus Arent.
Arent took as Oberjäger part in the attack on Eben-Emael with Sturmgruppe Granit (paratrooper) and was also involved in the Battle of Crete. Awarded the Knight's Cross on 4. December 1942 (Fallschirmjäger-Rgt. 5) and the Army Paratrooper Badge. Killed in action on 3. December 1943 near El Bathan, Tunesia.
His name and rank are engraved on the plaque. The plaque is made from zinc casting. Facsimile signature by Generaloberst Kurt Student. The velvet backing ("frame") is missing.
