The album begins with his time as a recruit in 1940. He was involved in the campaigns in France, Poland and Russia. In France, he served with 1. Nachrichten-Abteilung of the 268. Infanterie-Division. Numerous photos from the front and the winter combat in Russia. After training as a Zahlmeister from July to August 1942 in Scheyern, he was deployed to Greece and managed the army bakery in Athens. Some photos of the "factory" can be seen in the album. Beautiful photos of him as an officer in his tropical uniform. His service can be traced very well on the basis of his handwritten notes.

He survived the war and returned home on May 5, 1945.
